Drew Hirshfeld is now the commissioner? I must have missed that appointment and the approval from the Senate. I thought he hadn't even been named "acting commissioner", but was given a title like "acting as commissioner".

No, Atari, he is and has been Commissioner. He is acting as Director after Director Iancu resigned and before a new Director is nominated and confirmed.
