The Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) will offer a one-hour webinar entitled "Expanding the Eligibility Requirements to Foster Inclusion and Innovation in the U.S. Patent System" on April 28, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm (ET). Michelle Bugbee of Eastman Chemical Co.; Andrea Lynn Evensen of Siemens Corp.; Gracie Mills of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP; Margaret O'Boyle of O'Melveny & Myers LLP; Jenna Saunders of Faegre, Drinker, Biddle & Reath LLP; and Kristine Yates of Setter Roche Smith & Shellenberger, LLC will examine the gender gap in the patent bar and its correlation to the STEM degree requirement; discuss the qualifications for prosecuting design patents; review the letter from Senators Hirono, Coons, and Tillis to the USPTO and the USPTO's response, and explore ways to increase diversity among patent agents.
