Strafford will be offering a webinar entitled "Patents and the Written Description Requirement: Lessons Learned Since Ariad v. Lilly" on September 8, 2011 from 1:00 – 2:30 PM (EDT).  Michael Dzwonczyk of Sughrue Mion, PLLC will provide guidance for dealing with the written description requirement of 35 U.S.C, § 112, and discuss the lessons learned since the Federal Circuit's decision in Ariad v. Eli Lilly for compliance and patent challenges.  The webinar will review the following questions:

• How is the Ariad decision being applied by the courts — and what has its impact been on patent prosecutions?
• What are the implications of Ariad for the predictable and non-predictable arts?
• What steps can patentees and counsel take to meet the written description requirement and withstand invalidity challenges based on the written description?
